Look at any thread that ended in a sale and it is short. Five messages, sometimes fewer. Look at one that died and it is either two messages or twenty. The shape matters more than the words.
Message 1 — answer the question
Not a greeting, not a brochure. The thing they asked, in one line. Every extra sentence before the answer costs you readers.
Message 2 — the detail they will ask next
You already know what comes after "how much". Size, delivery, timing. Answering it before they ask is what makes a thread feel effortless.
Message 3 — the card
Photo, price, one button. This is the moment the conversation becomes a transaction, and it should be one tap away from done.
Message 4 — remove the last doubt
Usually payment or trust. "Cash on delivery" or "free returns within 7 days" belongs here, not earlier — say it too soon and it sounds defensive.
Message 5 — confirm, then stop
Say what happens next and end. The most common mistake in a DM sale is one message too many, the one that asks "anything else?" and gives the customer an exit.
“Answer, anticipate, offer, reassure, confirm. Then be quiet.”
